Fan Paper / Biodegradable seat covers

Fan Paper was a simple, eco-friendly seat cover that kept you and your audiences safe while enjoying a film, game, flight, class or concert.

Launched during the first weeks of the pandemic, Fan Paper was an experiment in rapidly scaling a product from zero to meet the needs of an international crisis—all to keep moviegoers in seats.

Danzico & Company ran this as a not-for-profit excercise and halted production after it was discovered that coronavirus was airborne.

‘Avoiding seats’

In the first days of COVID-19, cinemas feared that exposure to seats was going to prevent audiences from entering the theater. Theaters around the country put out a call for solutions.

Danzico & Company quickly developed and deployed Fan Paper to cinemas across the country. The product was made from recycled Kraft paper and FDA-approved, water-based ink. The concept was to simply tuck your Fan Paper cover into your seat, sit back and relax. “Or on the move? Roll it or fold it and take it with you.”

  • Fan Paper is currently available in 18” x 50” sheets adorned with the Fan Paper logo

Fan Paper is made from recycled Kraft paper, a smoother and lighter version of what you once used to protect your school textbooks. And now, that same paper has returned to protect your tush, too.

Eighteen inches is a common seat width in cinemas and on many airplanes. And fifty inches is more than enough to get your back and bottom.

Customize

We will soon be expanding our printing to add new sizes and additional branding alongside our Fan Paper logo. These will be available soon for a small fee for large, ongoing orders.

Look and feel

Our recycled Kraft paper is smooth to the touch but strong enough to withstand several up and down trips to the popcorn stand. And Fan Paper has the same soft crinkle sound as a popcorn bag.

  • 99¢ per sheet in bundles of 1,000 rectangular sheets

Fan Paper currently comes in bundles of 1,000 sheets. Each bundle weighs approximately 94 lbs and can be delivered right to your theater, arena or school.

Presentation for guests

  • Roll Fan Paper up for guests to bring to their seats

  • Lay Fan Paper flat on a table outside the theater doors

Each bundle comes with 1,000 sheets of Fan Paper and an equal number of rubber bands. Roll the sheets up and offer them to patrons before they take their seats. Alternatively, lay Fan Paper flat on a table for patrons.

Helping neighbors

  • 1,000 sheets donated to independent minority-run businesses for every ten bundles purchased by others

Because diversity in the creative community is an incredibly important issue to us, we’re donating a 1,000 sheets to an independent, minority-run business for every ten bundles purchased by others. We know many of you—from the largest chains to the smallest indies—feel strongly about this issue as well. And we hope to narrow our 1/10 donation ratio as we grow.

Our story

Fan Paper was dreamt up by the filmmaking community itself, specifically, an imaginative couple who met through their shared love of experimental film and video.

The duo originally developed Fan Paper to be something they themselves wanted to carry in these new and uncharted times. When venturing out of the house and into public theaters, stadiums, classrooms, conferences and airplanes, Fan Paper puts their minds at ease. And they hope it does the same for you.

So whether you are a fan of movies, sports, music or travel, we hope Fan Paper will keep you safe and paying attention to what truly matters, while being respectful to the environment.
